DIY/Hobbyist PDM module

Post by kemes »

The commercial PDM modules have developed into a nice direction in the past 10 years and the prices have also dropped. BUT the prices are still at a high level for "grassroots level tinkering". The commercial reasonably priced (~500$) PDM unit from Creative Werks Inc has not been released as the R&D department is working on the next revision of the product.

I've been recently looking into the world of the pretty much nonexistant DIY/hobbyist level PDM modules. I managed to find the (dead?, project owner does not answer to email/github issue) https://github.com/brenonsantos/OpenPDM project but nothing else really. I went through the hardware dev topics on this forum and quickly realized that many of you are designing and building really awesome hardware!

Can someone point me into the right direction to find an existing and active diy/hobbyist level PDM project, and if one does not exist, would there be any interest in designing one together?

Shortly after writing the text above I discovered the dingoPDM project which is a very nice and active solution for DIY PDM needs.
