96 C220 2.2L M111.961 HFM-SFI ECU TO MRE

Post by W202DTM »

Hello Everyone, this is my first post about my build. 1996 MB c220 M111.961 2.2l N.A. that i want to use for a W202 DTM replica. I have been researching for about a week on my free time to find the pinout for my ECU HFM-SFI. The manuals and literature found could be confusing at first but i referenced 4 different pinouts and descriptions along with the pictures of my actual ECU wiring harness connections to come up with a accurate pinout diagram that i will be inputting into a Excel sheet soon and upload here. I have not completely accessed the "interior" side of the ECU such as ABS, o2 sensors and other electronics. It's not to difficult, some of it will be deleted or not used like the 02 sensors. The (H) high and (L) low CAN connections will be utilized for the stock instrument cluster and SAM controllers for HVAC and radiator fans, like others have posted on the forum (md_sanci). I am thinking of using my stock ECU housing and pinning the MRE to the stock ECU (2)

connectors just for easier conversion utilizing the stock wiring harness which appears to be in great condition. The documentation that is on this forum and other rusEFI sites is amazing, i cant believe all the knowledge and level of documentation that is provided. All of you and AndreyB are saints for sharing this knowledge, its worth so much. As far as i can tell everything should work and adapt with little error. If anyone has any insight or experience with HFM-SFI it would be greatly appreciated. In the future i will be adding a Turbo and doing forged internals for a rebuild and you might be asking why i'm converting to a standalone MRE ECU. The reason is for future adaptation but main reason is I was given the car by a Family Friend and they have lost the keys, I was supposed to get the car in 2020 and was skeptical to get it without the keys due to the das and IR key needed. I plan to chase the chassis wiring to delete the immobilizer, das and any unneeded electronics. I will be using a start button and or basic 3 position ignition switch until i can find someone to make a non chipped key that works for the ignition and door/trunk lock cylinders. This is my first forum that i am posting on so if i don't post correctly or upload something correct feel free to let me know. Thank You again for all your knowledge and information.

I have decided to get the uaEFI since it has more features that I’m looking for. Placed my order and chose the case, soldered molex and pigtail harness with WBO connector harness. I’ve decided to ditch the factory ECU and harness connectors since there will be alot of stock wires and components that will be eliminated. In the end I want it all to be clean and simple. I’ve seen how much wiring gets taken out from these cars and it pretty much weighs as much as a person. I have the spreadsheet started with the wires from the stock harness that I will be using. I have a good idea of which connection I’ll use for the uaEFI and I’ll post it when it is definitive instructions.
