Bosch Lamda sensor info (Fake or not)

Post by Larspars »

Hi

I was asked to make post on the forum to share my findings on fake vs original 4.9 lambda sensors. This is just my findings and is by no means a conclusion.

So I recently purchaced a 4.9 lambda sensor of Ebay for my uaefi. It was 27 Dollars. https://www.ebay.com/itm/404882488960

I connected it to my uaefi and thought it was a bit wierd that AFR readings in TS showed 0 when in free air. I started to investigate and when applying lighter gas to the sensor TS started to show some readings. Second thing I noticed was that it could not show richer mixture than 11AFR. As soon as it was in the 10's it dropped right down to 0. @Dron_Gus on the Discord server explained that this is because Ipump is hitting the limit and Nernst voltage is out of range.

Connected my known good 4.9 sensor and this behaves like I would expect. Showing Lambda 2 in free air and 0.57 Lambda is the richest.

Red arrows are the original Bosch sensor. Blue is fake.

Typing error and different markings on connector. The original connector is glasfiber reinforced nylon vs fake is more like cheap plastic.

Hello,

the fakes look good now

"cobe" instead of "code" is a common fake mistake.

Does the fake have a packaging ? original has a package with bosch sticker

I had trouble with mine, i don't know if it is common with brand new LSU-4.9, but it was unusable. I had to heat it on a second car, approxymatively 20min of cruising, before it was fine. (always 1.35 of lambda before)
