My harley conversion

I'm working on a 97 harley efi conversion and I am trying to sort out a tach signal for the original tach. I am planning on individual smart coils, but the original system was a wasted spark setup. Can I run 2 coils as wasted spark and draw my tach signal off one as was done originally or should I sorce a diffrent coil packm

I've only touched newer harleys and those were V-twin odd fire meaning wasted spark was not possible. Is your engine even fire or odd fire? what is the name/model of the engine?

yes we have "two wire wasted spark" using individual coils

It's a 97 80 cuin evolution motor, and yes it is odd fire with a 45 degree seperation. I know they did a wasted spark system on early models of this engine, but I don't have any experience with them.

i am confused I was assuming that odd fire can never be wasted spark?

This is the original wiring for the coil

I think I have a solution. I can convert to the efi tach that's 12v single spark, so I can wire to the negative of one coil
