A lot of older vehicles (thus cheaper) in Russia use same or similar 55 pin ECU connector.

Those vehicle range from 8 valve https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lada_Riva grandchildren of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_124 to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAZelle light commercial vehicles.

We are still trying to get developers and https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/blob/master/misc/Strategy_2019.md still applies. I believe we need a cheap plug&play solution for this 4 cylinder 55 pin market. At this point 6 and 8 cylinders if those ever used this 55 pin connector are out of scope.

There are at least three vendors using same or similar 55 pin connector:
* Bosch seems to be the oldest offering.
* Yanvar/January
* Mikas

At least two modifications of the connector were used, maybe three.

Yanvar and Mikas seem to be using same or similar slim case where microRusEfi maaaaaaybe will fit but extremely tight fit. I have a Mikas in my collection, looks like they use https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-963063-1.html which is available new from US distributors at about $15. We have a board for this connector! https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=616

0261206683 MIVI3T64 Bosch uses a longer version of the connector which is available from China. TE support does not recognize this part, maybe too old maybe not TE maybe custom Bosch edition. PCB footprint is a bit different, we would need to modify the breakout board.

0261206683 MIVI3S64 (S instead of T) uses metal connector housing?!

My next step would be to get 0261206683 MIVI3T64 in my hands looks like it's a simpler option to begin with.

@andreika has reminded me that rusEfi firmware was already used with this Chinese connector! So we would not need to measure the footprint again :)

Simon has created first draft of the pinout compatibility chart. I did not realize that BMW M70 v12 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAZ-3102 had this pinout in common?!

Thanks Andrey.
I will try to take a look at the Vauxhall and Volvo stuff too, wondering how similar they are now.

Do we think that we can get away with just one of those plugs?
Do we think they may be compatible or interchange?

First phase is to investigate how our long connector would would work with original motronic cases and if there are variations of that case.

Many Russian vehicles use that other case with another connector, the small case and small connector. This case could be challenging for us but ideally we need two two boards to lure people with a promise of having a board for their existing case.

One thought, does it need to fit the existing case at all? Just has to fit in the same space.

I have a motronic connector out of the car at the moment. I will take a look how hard it is to replicate an end plate.

The whole idea of rusEfi PnP is design, fabrication and eventual user cost reduction. Reusing OEM cost is simplifying our life tremendously, we should do our best to fit OEM cases in my opinion - it would pay of by fabrication simplicity.

Dron has taken a VAZ Bosch apart and well... that's a bit surprising.

https://github.com/rusefi/hw_55_te/ is the repo for this ^^^ case.

Need to call Cricut tech support - on these chipboard prototypes my X precision is amazing my Y precision not so great :(

reminds me of the internals of modern SSDs :D
they are somewhat similar -– tiny boards with huge connectors and oversized enclosures...

I would assume zero speeduino people on the rusEfi forum thread if you are referring to rusEfi forum thread.

No idea about facebook viode thread.

No idea about many things really.

We have https://github.com/rusefi/hw_55_te release candidate but we do not have test mules lined up :( Not sure what's the plan for this board now.

I would be interested in trying this on a turbo setup the only issue is it is an inline 6 m20b25 same connector

if it looks the same it should be possible to make it work

please get yourself a microRusEFI this would motive us to finish this board and make it work for your 6 cylinder application.
