electronic clutch control

Post by AndreyB »

Since just engine control is obviously not enough I think clutch-by-wire is in order.

Smart fortwo uses a completely electronic unit - see http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/forums/f25/clutch-actuator-disected-44190/ - new ones are about $500, not many used ones. Are there any other options for fully electronic setups?
1- stepper sensor - (Brown/Grey)
2- sensor position 1 (Blue/Yellow)
3- actuator motor + (Red/Green)
4- sensor position 2 (Grey/Violet)
5- stepper sensor + (White/Yellow)
6- actuator motor - (Violet/White)
Looks like trucks might have them but I have no idea which ones. Does anybody know anything about this?

GM 12471631 / Dorman 600-103 4-Wheel Drive Actuator is cheap but probably too weak for clutch.
The wire harness is gm 15306396 ACDelco PT1449 bluestreak sn74, superseded by gm# 19180287,PT2448,

I have the pin outs for the dorman activator 600-103 gm#12471631
Pin Outs
A-Apply Ground to extend , remove to retract (used a Green Wire )
B-constant ground (used Black wire
C-FeedBack supply 12V when Locked & fully extended (Used Blue Wire )
D-Power (Used Red Wire )

http://www.perceptionenhancement.com/docs/papers/gb1997mot.pdf mentions forces between 150 and 200N, that would be 30-40 lbs.
