Getting it running

Post by Slim804 »

Guys I am curretly working on a M111 swap into a 190E. I have everything pinned out and wired up. I am trying to get this thing running, I've uploaded a current log as well as a current tune. not sure if I'm overlooking something in the cranking process but would be greatful if someone took a look at my logs and tune to see if anything stands out.

Does car crank?
When you hit bench test injectors do you hear injectors clicking?
microRusEFI does not handle dumb coils. m111 has dump coils. How do you address that? Do you see spark with your eyes if you bench test spark with COP out of the engine?

as you uploaded to REO, would it help to compare your log with existing logs there?

https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/wiki/All-Supported-Triggers#602 says 60/2 expected sync gap from 2.25 to 3.75

logs show no engine phase detection most of the time, logs show sync gap ratio 2.2

I guess your VR wires are flipped

So through my trouble shooting I have found out that while my injectors are clicking on the bench test, they are not operating/spraying during cranking. I have verified that my pin selections match the actual injector inputs. Injectors are enabled in TS.

Please clarify if you had a chance to flip VR

Until you paste a screenshot of a zig zag looking "sync: engine phase" graph it's expected for injector not to click since ECU does not decode rotation.

Add a bit cranking fuel, crank a bit longer. If you have compression, fuel and spark it should show signs of life

Ok, I put some starter fluid in it and cranked it longer. It showed signs of life until the starter fluid burned off. I did data log this throughout the process.

So I've had some time to fix a few issues and cranking the car. Was able to get it to run for a little bit with the help of some starting fluid a few days ago. I've updated my tune with the help from a few guys. I tried cranking it again today with no luck. here is my current tune and log. Any help would be appreciated.

Set cranking RPM to 3000 to begin with

Try 30 40 50 60 70 for cranking base fuel.

With those rude settings and matching throttle application you should be able to start car any car reliably just to confirm that fuel is injected etc.

Once you have that rude 2000 rpm from there it's just tuning.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "rude settings". Could you clarify that?

I mean rough setting, harsh settings, very imprecise settings.

I've adjusted settings and attempted to crank it. It seems as if my injectors aren't firing. I bench tested them and they all click, checked the pin out and all outputs and wires match. Verified that fuel pumps are working and delivering fuel to the rail. Engine will stumble and tries to start if I use starting fluid.

Confirm that you have constant +12 reaching injectors while cranking.

I do have voltage to injectors while cranking. I pulled the fuel rail and injector to confirm in fact that injectors are not spraying while cranking. Even with a direct 12V from the battery they are not firing during cranking.

Turned out to be a bad crank sensor. Once that was replaced it fired up on first try. Thanks Andrey!!

I'm not great at reading logs. So I did what I knew how to do on the mechanical side which is to test the ohm load and continuity. That let me know that the sensor was bad.

Re: M111 running / supercharger control

Post by Slim804 »

Now that I have it up and running I'm currently trying to wire in for supercharger clutch control. I searched the forum and its not much if any information out there. My wiring pinout has it at a single wire from the supercharger to pin 34 of the MRE via relay. Am I missing something else that needs to be done?

So nobody is controlling the M111 supercharger clutch with the ECU?
