Hi,

I'm building a Nissan D21 Pickup truck, to be my all-purpose race truck.
Ideal for events and track days, as you can carry tires, tools and extra parts in lockable cabinets, an air compressor, tent,
and a mini fridge full of beer and meat. And ofc, a grill :)

Current mods:
WD21 terrano 4-link rear suspension, with panhard bar
ghetto roll bar

Plans for the engine:
-VG30E swap + auto gearbox
-38mm Mikuni ITBs with DBW throttle with 6 map sensors and a mercedes vacuum pump
-staged injection
-Cheap equal length ebay manifolds
-Two KKK K03 or K04 turbos, remote mount under the cabin
(maybe two twinscroll ones with DIY quickspool valves, depends on what kind of junk could I get)
-Water-to-air intercoolers, maybe integrated to the airbox

Other plans:
-Proper roll cage
-Bench seats with inflatable center, so it acts as a bucket when deflated, and as a comfy bench when inflated (for her pleasure )
-Foldable race spec head restraints for the seats
-Some kind of junk 2 or 3-way suspension with reservoir shocks

Yeah, I mean, it started with the rational thought of buying a pickup, then I saw this crap and fell in love with the paint job :D
Also, it's kinda the only single-cab Hardbody in my country, and looks a lot cooler then the double / king cab versions (and lighter too)

Now I kinda spent around 2 times more on the car, then what I actually paid for it (frame repair, etc)

But this time, I was at least smart enough to wait with the engine swap until everything is ready (had a few project car disasters before),
so the car is still usable while all the R&D happens.

So now I have a towable test rig to experiment on the engine, and the steering / front suspension setup (rear of the donor was used to fix my frame)

Started prototyping the ITB piping / clearancing.

Hope I could get some 38mm ID pipes that are suitable for the purpose.
Also, I might get a separate pathy/Z31 lower intake, to cut/weld stuff around it.

Also, I really need coils. R8 or VAG short ones could be an option, not sure about the clearances.
LS and ign-1a coils would be better, but they cost a lot more here.

I assume LS smart coils are out of the question?

that would look sweet with mounting studs welded to the valve cover and have the ignition leads facing inwards.

LS coils are an option, but I'm not sure, where could I get a set for cheap here in europe.

Long time since I posted, but not giving up on the project, don't be afraid :)

My new garage is near completion, and I got plenty of shop equipment including some old lathe.

Also, I'm figuring out an easy and safe way to have a crank sensor. Newer Nissan VQ engines have it in the bellhousing, and since I'll be using a
newer transmission anyway, will just use the flywheel trigger.

Doesn't the VG30E have an optical disc in the distributor? Same as my L28ET? I use a DIYAutotune Optical Disc replacement for crank and cam and run full sequential COP using an RB25 ignitor and Ford dumb coils.
