[rusEfi] hello all - Mitsubishi #31
hello all - Mitsubishi #31
hi all.
received my stm32 yesterday. i try to load it with rusefi.hex and seems successfully connected with tunerstudio.
not yet connect with dev console, i think it should be ok.
2nd step is about ecu shield. i had very bad experience soldering smd part, so i planning to use it with others alternative shield. any suggestion? any pcb with 4channel ign/inj is enough for me.
my engine is 4g63 with 4/2 trigger pattern. currently running with ms2 fully sequence ign/inj.
thanks in advance.
mattsabun.

Hello and welcome
I am only aware of one shield you can buy assembled - https://www.tindie.com/products/russian/frankenso-04-fully-assembled-board/ - but I could be wrong

I'm also only aware of the one board mentioned above. If others exist, it's cool, but I do not know of any.

yes, i notice that. just for now maybe not a suitable time. my currency now is 1us=4.02rm. need something inexpensive.
if i jumped st32 pin to other pcb shield, would it works? i means could i tune it with micro usb via tunerstudio?

Yes you can tune it with micro usb via tunerstudio.mattsabun wrote:if i jumped st32 pin to other pcb shield, would it works? i means could i tune it with micro usb via tunerstudio?
Make sure your shield accepts 3v signals to control drivers and produces only below 3.3v analog outputs since our stm32 platform is unfortunately 3v not 5v.

Re: hello from malaysia
stm32 chip uses only 3v and it would burn on 5v.mattsabun wrote:thanks for advice. to power stm32 is remain 5v, am i right?
stm32f4discovery board you have has a power regulator which makes 3v out of 5v, I believe you can feed the board with both 3v and 5v depending on which power inputs you would use.

Re: hello from malaysia
i see in tunerstudio it much different from megasquirt. i notice in trigger setup it only show mitsubishi and cam signal. will it works with 4/2 pattern, since mitsu also got 4/1 pattern?

Re: hello all.
got my frankenso v0.2 today. i ordered from local pcb house. minimum order is 5 pcs, so if i burn one of them, still got 4 spare pcb .
got little bit confusion, on pcb side got stm32 chip pad. so if i already have stm32discovery, i need just solder the female socket and plug in stm32discovery. am i right?

Re: hello all.
yes, your choice if you solder stm32 chip (harder route) or use a socket and use a discovery board
Did you say frankenso v0.2? Not 0.4 or 0.5rc?

Re: hello all.
i am from malaysia. sorry for edited topic.
i only notice it is v0.2 board, as it was printed on pcb. gerber file copied from frankenso topic. anyway, i don't known how to view the content of gerber file. so i just copy and sent it to pcb house.

Re: hello all.
Gotcha.
Nothing wrong with v 0.2, it's my mistake with having the older files in this folder for some reason. Just fixed the top post of Frankenso topic.

Re: hello all.
so I am planning not to populate a full features. just enough with 4 channel ign/inj, all basic analog input, fuel pump control, fan control and if possible a knock circuit.

Re: hello all.
knock part would need to be hacked a bit on 0.4 but that's probably a couple steps from where you are.

Re: hello all.
KICAD includes GerView, which can allow you to see the gerber files before you send to PCB house. Also there is typically a PDF of the layout in the folder.
The R0.4 board is better, there were several fixes which are noted in the KnownIssues file. You can see what was fixed in version newer than R0.2, but the R0.2 board is also reasonably good.

Re: hello all.
Hmmm, I see digikey has stock of this one http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/VNS14NV04/497-3317-5-ND/654714?curr=usd&WT.z_cid=ref_octopart_dkc_buynow&site=us
This one is not obsolete and available at mouser http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/STMicroelectronics/VNS14NV04PTR-E/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduiLphj1XrlSEEMdbpsuhj2xNC3UQnpIIYKTnH3tUIVE8BSdBhsOVVi6&utm_source=octopart&utm_medium=aggregator&utm_campaign=511-VNS14NV04PTR-E&utm_content=STMicroelectronics

Re: hello all.
so 497-3317-5-ND has same spec with 497-11123-1-nd? i preferred order from digikey as long as my bom list is there. which is cheaper between digikey and mouser?

There is the old part number and the new part number, both work exactly the same for us.

I do not understand the question. I believe we have 4g93 no idea how close or far from 4g63.mattsabun wrote:about decoder for 4g63, i am curious how it calculate.
Do you need to add a new trigger? Do you wonder how existing trigger works? Have you seen http://rusefi.com/wiki/index.php?title=Manual:Software:Trigger

Re: hello all.
yes, definitely sama 4g63 and 4g93. i am also using other open source ecu project. it use other method of calculation for decoder. very hard to cranking/start.

Re: hello all.
I've just realized the board on the picture is not version 0.4 - is that your board? are you sure it's worth soldering stm32f4 chip on the board? the red line on the left is about stm32f4 accessory components
