G'day to everyone on the forum,
Seems like you have a pretty good bit of kit there Russian, my name is Damien I'm from the lower side of Australia, Victoria. I have little to no experience with aftermarket ECU's or soldering boards together only done it a few times long ago, i am however a heavy diesel mechanic and played with a lot of different vehicles over the last 15 years or so, i have never tuned anything before however i understand basics, so probably plenty of questions from me in the near future
I have a bit of a project going at the moment and deciding on what route to take. The car is an Australian ford falcon 4.0 litre inline 6 cyl sohc engine with a distributor, with an electronically controlled btr 4 speed auto transmission, i have another engine id like to put into the car it is also a 4.0 litre but it is dohc and COP much nicer engine with dual vct. i know i can throw the engine in the car and wire up the factory dohc ecu and reflash it to run in the car and utilize the obd II, but the only 2 programs i can purchase to do this is well over the 700 dollar mark last time i looked. I like the idea of using an aftermarket ecu at an affordable price with future features being able to be added later.
the engine at this point in time has a factory vr sensor and i think a 36-1 trigger wheel, it has 2 pin style coils which the factory ecu can fire which ill probably need and ignitor to fire with an aftermarket ecu, as far as the vct goes it is only used for fuel economy so i dont care if it is lost due to vernier cam gears
these engine have made upwards of 1000whp with gt47 or similar size turbos, stock cylinder heads and stock cams running e85 so in the future i would like to boost the engine on e85 and hopefully put down around 550whp
things i dont understand is how i set up wasted spark on a 6 cylinder engine i dont know how many coil drivers your boards have
And do you have instructions on how to set up components on the board the right way so the smoke doesn't come out when i turn it on
and how hard is it run my factory ecu just to control the auto and the rest of the car while running your ecu just to control spark, fuel and engine related things
I have put a lot of thought into this but trying to research these inline 6 cylinder engines is a nightmare people here in Australia just take it somewhere and it comes back with millions of horespower and of course tuners do not like to share things with customers....any help would be appreciated
cheers Damien
