This probably applies to other hardware as well, but I'm specifically looking at the rusEFI huge (for an inline 6 cyl, N/A, VVT, ETB with lots of sensors including wheel speed inputs).

Are the pin assignments static? I see in TunerStudio that most inputs (CLT, MAP, IAT, TPS, Cam position, etc) have user selectable pins. Outputs such as VVT solenoids can also be assigned to almost any pin. So what purpose is served by naming the various analog inputs and outputs here?

Though looking at the schematic, on page 39 it seems that the pullup/down resistor varies by input, and more than just "temp vs volt" input. Also looks like all inputs are pulled up and down? I must be reading this wrong:

there are only two kinds of low side outputs - ones with and without flyback. you have complete freedom which TS reflects, but pinouts are _suggesting_ recommended pins just to bring some uniformity

That is normally a column on the pinout so everything the user needs to successfully wire it is on 1 page.

I'm all proud of myself for guessing that one right and understanding those pins count as outputs even though they are not included in the published output numbers.

Its the stupid little things that make life easy and turn viewers into customers/users like MAP(suggested), AN1, 1k pulldown (or whatever it is).
