Playing with that HEI module https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=31888#p31888 on a bench.

Proteus uses GPPWM to tell HEI who is in charge - below say 300 RPM it's HEI doing cranking timing and above 300 it's rusEFI doing timing.

channel 1 tach signal - purple wire with a white trace - pin R
channel 2 coil tach output
channel 3 ignition override - tan wire with a black trace - pin B
channel 4 advance control - white wire - pin E

Here HEI is in charge (channel #3 on the image is low)

My tune https://rusefi.com/online/view.php?msq=1461

Here rusEFI controls timing.

On the other hand why even bother allowing HEI to even control timing? Just feed constant +5v to override pin and make life easier.

Or you simply ignore the whole HEI - hook up pickup coil as VR input and use external igniter. This works as is but custom/better trigger would be needed (or just nice to have?) to pick up less noise. Current implementation with skipped 8/0 wheel does not allow for redundant gap checks.
