You use March firmware and we had 36/2 trigger improvement two weeks ago - drama was about unreliable start https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/4132

You can manually set custom gap ratios as on the picture https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/4132#issuecomment-1115282636

Looks like your wheel is a bit custom

your first ratio is around 3.2 so let's do from 3.2*0.75 to 3.2*1.25 so from 2.4 to 4.8

your second gap ratio is around 0.3 so let's do from 0.225 to 0.45

Nope - that's not what you want. The N-1th gap is actually the 1.0 gap just before the long tooth (which we check for 0.7 to 1.3), and the long tooth is checked for 1.6 to 3.5. You're well inside those bounds.

The trigger sync looks great to me.

I see a few problems with the tune though:

1. you have a cam input configured, but I see no signal from your cam sensor.
2. Without a cam sensor, I don't expect the engine to start in sequential mode. Try setting wasted spark mode, and enable "two wire wasted". This will emulate wasted spark using your individual coils, so the engine can run without a cam sensor at all.

Please update to fresh snapshot https://rusefi.com/build_server/rusefi_bundle_proteus_f4.zip

and check new checkbox not to fure until cam sync see https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/4151

Hello
Camshaft sensor brought back to life
The engine tries to start, but there are reverse shots and the sound does not work on all cylinders. can anyone see the log, thanks

With current cranking threshold of 550 you are in cranking all the time

Fuel: last injection looks interesting but I have too little practical experience :(

A few observations from your tune:

Displacement: should it be larger than 2 liters?

Trigger offset: Setting "single tooth second half" with a trigger offset greater than +-180 seems wrong to me. You should be able to switch to "single tooth first half" with an offset of 53 instead.

Ignition mode: you could try disabling the VVT cam input, and setting ignition mode to "wasted spark" with "individually wired wasted spark" set to 'true'. This will run in wasted spark mode using your individual coils, and can be helpful to debug the primary trigger without using the cam sensor at all.

Cranking timing: 15 degrees is a lot of cranking timing. I'd turn that down to maybe 5 degrees.

Observations from your log:

Trigger sync again looks OK, this time with cam input seemingly doing its job.

Is there something wrong with your fuel system? The fuel pressure is steadily decreasing while the engine cranks.

I have no idea if your fuel quantity is correct, since I don't know how your injectors work. They're set to 800cc/min, but that's for gasoline. Is 14.7 the correct stoichiometric ratio for CNG? I think it should be something more like 17:1. We don't currently support CNG well, so if you can provide some information about your injection system we can help configure the ECU correctly for your needs.

Nick says that MAP (yellow line) spikes are explosions in intake collector?

This engine runs fine on Motec. Asking Nick for more Motec logs or more Motec info to compare.

CNG fuel pressure loss is expected, 15 degrees advance due to slower burn. Overall primary concurn at the moment is explosiongs in intake.

Yeah, I'd believe that.

Need more logs :( Open for ideas what extra logging might help.

TL,DR: drama was about injection phase, 140 change resolved the issue but not on rusEFI.

Patchcord was modified to accomodate Link ECU. With Link ECU default 90 degree injection phase this engine was excibiting aboslutely the same drama as on Proteus.

Link ECU injection phase was adjused from 90 to 240 to match Motec default. With just that calibration change this engine is now happy.

With the patchcord already modified next Proteus attempt would be on the next similar engine with a new patchcord.
