Input from TPS seems good but Tuner Studio Throttle Body gauge does not work properly

Post by JustinVincentParker »

Greetings,

I had the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) hooked up and working correctly in Tuner Studio before. It is not working correctly anymore, as seen in the attached video.

I can see the ADC values changing, denoted by the blue bar in the video changing, as well as by looking at the TPS window (not shown in the video). But it is not linked, or communicating wll with the Throttle Body gauge in Tuner Studio.

I have done all sorts of messing around with the calibration, setting the closed position and the full throttle position, and messed around with changing the numerical values, but no luck at all.

It should be noted that the signal is inverted, which I have been told is not an issue. I would just need to swap 2 wires on the TPS, but with it previously working fine that way, I don't see that as being a contributor to this issue.

Thanks in advance for the help.

HI

First attaching a video is not the best idea. Just upload it to youtube. However I opened it in a sandbox.

To calibrate the TPS.

1. Open TPS calibration window (The one in your video)
2. Release the pedal
3. click "get current" for closed position. Top button
4. push the gas pedal to max
5. click "get current" for open position. bottom button.
6. click accept.

if you do not click accept it will not work. The TPS on the dash view will only work after you pushed accept.
Did you do it like this?
The blue bar in the calibration view indicates that it is wired correctly. So it should work.

If you did it like this. Please show your wiring. Type of TPS.

Also to my knowlege to switch it, switch 5v and GND.

Greetings and thanks for the recommendations,

I previosuly, before the video, attempted to calibrated the TPS many times. And what you saw was what I got. I was able to succesfully calibrate the TPS like a month prior, and it was working - so I am familiar with the process, and know what the outcome should be.

I just swapped the wires, so the signal is no longer inverted. Unfortunetly, that did not fix the issue.

This is the TPS that I am using:
Throttle Position Sensor for 1990-1993 Nissan 300ZX 2+2

You requested the wiring details. I'll try to answer this the best I can. 5 VDC is going to the TPS. The ground goes back to the RUSEFI ECU. The output from the TPS goes to the RUSEFI D13 TPS1, connection. I bought this ECU kit from someone for my specific vehicle, Suzuki Cappuccino, so I'm not sure if D13 is common notation for a specific pin on the RUSEFI board.

Here is a picture of the TPS settings in Tuner Studio, if that helps. Note, I did not have the ECU plugged in when I took that picture.

Configuration shows two inputs implying modern redundant TPS

Unassign tps2

Greetings,

When I change TPS #2 to NONE, I get the errors shown in the attached images.

I figured it out.

You have to go to All sensors 3/3, and set the first two to NONE, then it will let you set the TPS #2 to NONE in the TPS settings menu. Picture is attached.
