Honda obd1 vtec

Post by lsvtec »

Hello everyone, I've got the honda obd1 pnp by boostednw; got the car to start up and idle. I've been looking for a remote tuner to get things progressing however I was curious if anyone could share some insight on the current tune, which is attached. It's running 2200cc ID injectors however the VE table is way high, despite decreasing injector sizes, which is what was needed to have a decent AFR ~15 at idle.

Also, might be a dumb question, but I've looked and have not found an answer as to how to engage VTEC. I understand it is on/off however how would one go about setting that up within TunerStudio/rusEFI? Do I need to set up a relay to get the power to solenoid or does the ECU have that capability?

Thanks everyone. And if anyone is open to tuning the car remotely please let me know.

let me point you at part of your tune responsible for VTEC control https://rusefi.com/online/view.php?msq=1652&dialog=gppwm1

VE is insane, that often means that injector dead times are wrong.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah strangely enough I copied over the old Hondata settings for the injector data/ dead times (bought the car with it) and so I figured I’d get close enough.

Still a few things I got to look into like exhaust leaks though. The sensor is right after the down pipe cat and since I’ve installed it I haven’t gone back to make sure it’s secure/snug

But anyhow, thanks for pointing out where to look for when setting up VTEC, I had not seen that menu option before!

Does the ECU have capability for separate fuel and ignition tables for VTEC when on/off?

Yes but you would have to use "blend" tables feature - it's powerful but complicated.

How so? Is there anywhere I can read regarding setting this up? I'm curious how to get the ECU to work well for VTEC, to get the most power out of the engine. I'm used to seeing the "high power" and "low power" tables in Hondata so I was curious if there was something somewhat similar with the ECU..
