VW 1.6L Engine Two-Stroke Conversion

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share a project I’ve been working on. I’ve developed a VW 1.6-liter engine equipped with an M45 supercharger from a Mercedes Kompressor. The crankshaft was modified from a twin-piston arrangement to a crossplane configuration, and the camshaft was reworked for two-stroke operation.
One key detail is that the camshaft and crankshaft gears are the same size, giving a 1:1 ratio necessary for the two-stroke cycle. The engine runs on gasoline and is currently operating at 1.3 bar of boost pressure from the supercharger. We’re using RusEFI for engine management, and it has performed perfectly for this application!
The engine is running well, and we’re planning to test its power output on a bench dynamometer soon.
Our next project will involve converting a 2.8-liter 4-cylinder MWM Sprint diesel engine to two-stroke operation as well. For this, I’d like to know if anyone has experience using RusEFI with diesel engines. My plan is to develop a driver for the direct injection injectors and connect it to the existing RusEFI board I already have.
Do you think this approach would work? I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this idea!
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if it is compatible, but there are a few threads here dealing with GDI. There may be something in them to glean for your diesel application.

You can take some Toyota GDI injector driver. Like 8987128010.
