i have 2 keyfobs, but the Saab ones look like the Mercedes ones ive seen. GM (for my model years) use classic Key fobs this type
Problem is that the trionic 8 is connected via CAN to car electronics. GM uses totally different modules as Saab also the trionic firmware is different between Saab and GM. I dont know Saabs, but GM uses RF battery operated Remotes with separate wound antenna and Immo IC. I can make photos of the inside. Reading is done in CIM module wich is a module underneath steering wheel where the stalks go, horn, steering keys, it also operates steering lock when A/T is installed. This module is connected via CAN and also acts as a gateway/filter/passtrhu/ to isolate engine CAN from body/interrior/radio/dooor/etc CAN. GM uses 3 CANs in my car. 2 separate differencial ones and one single wire.
On these Vectras i didnt heard of this type of problem. You can let GM generate you security access key to CIM or read it out from memory and tech in new immo tokens.
I heard of problem from Saab fans, that also Radios/Nav systems are problematical to install from other car as they are married with some generated keys together.
GM has lets call it "bug" in entertainment system (i dont know if it is derivated from saabs or not) where you also need to marry Nav/with LCD and CIM, but if you install one married from other car, then marry/unmarry it with donor cars key, it will reprogram and then you can marry it with you cars key even when it was not removed and propertly uninstalled on donors car. (In saabs i think this is not possible - saab owners with propper knowledge please write...)

Hi! To update about that topic, we now have a working bin (thank james for the tests!) which allow the car to be started using the key and which doesn't log any error. That bin works without checking SCL / CIM so it's perfect for a stand alone ECU.
The main part of the hack consists in stop reading the key position (which is encrypted using the car immo values) and always suppose it's on position "ON". The consequence is that we can't stop the engine immediatly and the engine will continue running until we are out of fuel (a few seconds after the fuel pump is turned off).
I am working on a work around to allow the ECU to stop the engine a clean way. Here's what i have in mind :
> If vehicule speed is ZERO and if we press 3 times the brake pedal, this will turn the engine off.
It's the best option I found for now and i am working on the development, but let me know if someone here has a better idea ! If we had useless external sensor/input, then we could use it to replace the ON/OFF feature of the key, but as far as i am concerned i don't know what value could be used... Maybe AC ON/OFF if the target car doesn't have an AC this could do the trick easily...
