Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine #33

Hi everybody. Now ive tested it and tweaked and it is great. Thanks. Ill upload an video later.

By the way, can i use every single free pin as an ignition or injection outputs, or only the timer pins?

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine #33

Hi, thanks for the fast response. Lets test it. I will test today/tomorrow and write results. Is it implemented in the latest build? (rusefi firmware 11.03.2017 22:38)?

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine #33

Hi everybody. I am continuing to make my car working great. But i want to ask something. Before couple of months, when i first tested my prototype board i discovered that smart has some delay in timing between spark plugs on the same cylinder, but rusefi has only one ignition map. So i can only para...

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine #33

I think it is doable with rusefi programmable output logic. Its because the turbo is controlled via two valves. In between from vacuum to 0.5bar the first valve is closed or open only. It operates the two "error modes". One that goes only to ambient pressure and the other limits physically...

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine

Sorry for the delay, i was a little bit busy, because of teeth operation. Here is the video, of starting it a couple of hours ago. New videos will follow. This was just a quick start. It needed a little more cranking as i not trimmed the fuel correctly at low temps and i think the LM1815 circuitry i...

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine

By the way, isnt there a rusefi buill for smaller 32F4 series? 48QFN maybe?? (I think it would be very usefull as an LPG injection controller)

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine

Yes, i have wiring of the original transmission, it is controlled with the engine ECU. There are inside two bipolar H bridges for controlling the transmission and for each motor 2 encoder signals. I will post it when i have a little more time.

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine

Roadsters and fortwos (model years from 98 to 2005 i think) share the same type of transmission. Just the ratios are other and the selector drum wich selects the corresponding gears is changed.

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine

It is "motorized manual" so classic gearbox with dry clutch, just the selector is electric and the clutch is operated via the second dc motor. It is pretty heavy about 15-25kgs i think. And it is pretty small. Here i found an "X-RAY" view of it. http://s385.photobucket.com/user/t...

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine

Welcome and looking forward a video at least inside the garage! So I guess your engine is our first tiniest step into diesels :) I want to play with gearbox control one day but this is getting postponed again and again :( my idea is to make FSIO flexible enougth to handle gearboxes. That would be p...

Hello and greetings kb1gtt. Yes, the boards will be open-sourced for everyone. These ones are just a bunch of homemade "pre-beta" ones. I will free up schematics and layout files, but at this time if therer are some quirks i want to avoid, that someone can damage something with these board...

Re: Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine

:-) no diesel. I can say it is "hybrid" in some way. It runs on petrol, only the bottom is transplanted from a diesel one. (Hope petrol lovers wont hate me for this step). As i sayed. At weekend, when i will be home ill shoot a video, running it on the older PCB. (But if i manage to popula...

Smart 452 Roadster with "Bigblock" Engine #33

Hi everybody. Originally i bought a Smart roadster with a tiny 45kW petrol/turbo boosted engine. The engine was pretty worn out, so i started to make my own one. This time not much bigger but in point of quality a longer lasting one. So i used a smart CDI 800ccm engine bottom/lump and added after so...

STM32F407 own board - usb not working

Hi everybody, i made my own logic board, flashed the firmware via HEX->DFU over USB, DFU is working, grounded BOOT0, board firmware is running (leds are blinking) but my USB connection is not working. Can somebody help me with it? Here is my logic board schematic. PS: Ignore the BOOT0 resistor R83, ...

An idea for a new feature: ECU stimulator

Hi guys. My engine is now up and running. I next days i think i shoot an video. But now i cant go test the car (700kgs, RWD and a lot of snow here :-) ). But i have an idea for a cool feature that i think would lot of people use. I have my RUSEFI "pigibacked" on my stock ecu. The ignition,...

Re: Twinspark spark timing table

Hi, last drives i had hooked up scope as i drove. It seems that the second timing is following the primary spark in order of 0-15 degs . But it is only dependent on RPMs not on load. I thought that is was dependent on boost, but seems that it is not. Only change in RPMs affect the second spark timin...

Re: Twinspark spark timing table

Hi, its not an aviation application. I know that in flight engines it is for redundancy. Mine is an smart/mercedes 700ccm 3cyl petrol boosted engine. It has twin arrangement, but the sparks are not symmetricaly placed in head. But as the piston travels one is lower than other. I looked at the timing...

Hi, would it be able or better is it planned to make some sort of dual spark outputs for dual spark arrangement. I have i 3cyl. even fire engine. Re: USART3 to USART1 possible?

Speed is set correctly to 38400. 38400 in TunerStudio and the same on the firmware. So if i understand it the PB1 was used as a communication switch only on older versions of the firmware?

Re: USART3 to USART1 possible?

If i power on the board, i can not connect using USART3. It goes only with USB/Console. After resetting the board it connects in TunerStudio OK. As you can see on my PORT configuration the PB1 is left floating. So i am asking if there is any constant/setting that can i edit to use it right after boo...

HIP9011 - which ECUs use it

Hi everybody, currently i want to test my RUSEFI design with STM32F4 discovery board, but i have hard time to obtain a HIP9011, so i would use one from older ECU (because scrap ecus are selled for low prices here). Can anybody send me bosch part numbers from ecus, that contain HIP9011?? I have a boo...
