Re: Subaru triggers.
Changing from 12 to 15 helps a lot. It's getting synchronized ok. Now I leave it at 14. Looks okay too. But while I driving, it looks like my timing is retarded. I notice the same after the first time setting those trigger gaps. Do those trigger gaps affect timing while the engine is running? Maybe ...

Re: Subaru EZ30 Cam hall sensor strange behavior
Thank you I plan to swap XT with a legacy EZ30 engine and a drivetrain with a diesel gearbox. So I definitely need some help when I start this project

Re: Subaru triggers.
I run Core8 ECU. So I can't upload firmware directly. I load it with regular firmware and save it. So there are no pin settings in it.

Re: Subaru triggers.
Still have it. The error gets only when it synchronizes and tries to start. Look at the last start.
As I said, this problem occurs only when battery gets low. With a freshly charged battery it its gets only some trigger error but start ok.

Re: Subaru triggers.
After longer use, it's definitely way much better. But it's still not perfect. When the car stays a few days, the battery gets lower, and it won't get synchronization: engine cranking but no synchro. + Getting trigger errors.

Re: Subaru EZ30 Cam hall sensor strange behavior
It is the newer EZ30 with VVTi? How does it run on RusEFI in general? I heard that it have some isue with VVTi on other ECUs. Does it control both banks with one output and one cam input? Or does it have separate controls for both banks with two cam inputs and two outputs?

Re: Subaru triggers.
It starts way much faster and better. Still, get some trigger errors but now it does not look like a big problem. After the last log, I left the car because it wouldn't start (my previous log file). Now enter trigger gaps and it starts with no big problem. Can't upload this log, but it shows an erro...

Re: Subaru triggers.
So. After some longer use, I still have a problem with the 6/7 trigger. Sometimes I get a trigger error while starting, this interrupts starting and needs more cranking. The second, and worse problem is that it won't synchronize. Sometimes I start the car ok, sometimes I can crank it as long as I wa...

Re: Subaru triggers.
If I remember correctly, I checked the 7/6 trigger timing with the light on the EJ20 Forester and it was ok. So I think that it should be ok on this car too because triggers are the same. But I check it with a timing light to make sure.

Re: Subaru triggers.
According to the previous log, it's 8. Like, set to tuner studio. That's why it locks the engine and messes up the trigger signal a lot. I might check it with the timing light, but need to find a TDC position on the pulley first. Ps I can't upload a log. Get this message. The page you are looking fo...

Re: Subaru triggers.
In tuner studio cranking settings, the Fixed cranking angle was set to 8. Now I set it to -10, and after a few starts set it to -15. It starts much better, but still gets a few trigger errors and one small backfire in the exhaust. In the log file, I see the ignition timing jumping from +-9 to +- -59...

Re: Subaru triggers.
At the moment I run RusEFI at my daily Subaru legacy EJ25D with 7/6 trigger. It runs okay when it starts, but I have some problems while cranking the engine. I get a trigger error, and sometimes it backfires or just locks the engine. It gets better while the battery booster is connected, and it gets...

I forgot to take the log before taking it apart... I swap it back to 36-2-2-2 and I take a log when I have some free time it would be nice to make it run on this trigger.

Re: Subaru triggers.
Some update. Have trigger error at higher rews too. 2-3k rpm and it's stopped working at all. I tried to swap the sensor, but it's stuck. Ended up with a broken sensor and timing belt off. While in here, swap it to a 7/6 trigger. Looks like working fine with no problem. So now the question. If I swa...

Re: Subaru triggers.
I used the same engine with the same sensor in another car with a speeduino. And I used to have the same problem with low battery. Factory ECU can easily crank the car but Speeduino won't start the injector at a lower cranking speed. Maybe try to use a new sensor? Subaru has black old and brown newe...

Re: Subaru triggers.
Update FW and try to start it. But my starter died. Before that, I take the log when the engine cranks at low speed. Only get a few squirts of fuel at the start of the crank and that's all. https://rusefi.com/online/view.php?log=1288 Swap the starter and I get much faster cranking. Injector and igni...

Re: Subaru triggers.
Ok, i try in a few days ;) thanks ;) I use Core 8 ECU with specific FW Since you mention that please provide more details on some Core 8 - what changes are beneficial above rusefi firmware? Can't say exactly. But how I noticed output and input pins are labeled according board. Easy to identify.

Re: Subaru triggers.
I can't start the engine on the 36-2-2-2 trigger... With +100 trigger offset, I get +- right TDC position. But it's still jumping a few teeth back and forward with no reason. And I get only two pulses of fuel and one ignition (bath fire) at the start of the cranking and then the ignition and injecti...

Ez30 trigger ok. 36-2-2-2 should look the same as EZ30. But it's shown differently with much more teeth.
Ps. Upload my trigger log in a few hours.

Re: Subaru triggers.
It's this trigger with no cam sensor. Same tooth pattern as EZ30. Tunerstudio high-speed logger and rusefi console confirm it. After comparing it to the factory manual I found a -75/80 degree TDC offset. https://www.fastwrx.com/cdn/shop/products/SubaruCrankPulleySprocket_5000x.jpg?v=1627594993 But i...
