The logic level translator went out again. Sent AndreyB an LS coil to play with. Meanwhile, I got sloppy the 2nd time removing the chip. The Dremel cut into 3 other parts. I know one is a 4.7k X4 resistor array, but I don't know what the other 2 are. I can't even order replacements until I know what is needed.

The link you posted where this part had failed in the past, it was brought up that it was only capable of 50 mA. Coil Outputs 2-6 are still working. I used them to compare to #1 -- what is different? I then traced it backwards until I landed on the logic converter pin 10. My suggestion is merely to increase the amp rating on the gate driver 5 volt output.

I haven't measured the current draw on the LS coil's Signal input, so I don't know if 50 mA is dangerously close, or if it was just a fluke failure.

I've linked your suggestion to the ticket above. But before we fix we have to confirm the issue, what's your understanding of the sequence of events? Is that some specific igniter that's demanding above 50a? Is there anything you can measure or maybe even reproduce on one of the not-yet-damaged channels?

Since this is open source, and you have expressed that you are open to suggestions for improvements, I had a failure with U103, SN74LVC4245APWR Logic Level Translator used as a Gate Driver for Ignition Output channels. It appears it is rated for 50 mA current. As a suggestion, swap in a P-MOSFET array like the Toshiba TBD62783AFNG. It is an 8-channel P-MOSFET array, 18 pins, available in P-DIP, SOP, SSOP, and P-SOP packages. It is capable of 500 mA current. Since it isn't tri-state capable, it would need pull-down resistors added. I would suggest 1k to 2.2k. Here is a link to DigiKey's data sheet:

I see you using ST, Microchip, TI, and other components. If you don't want to use the Toshiba version, many other companies make theirs, so you have options.

Thanks AndreB. I had already placed the order before seeing your reply. Still, I didn't see any resolution in that discussion you linked. I may get the MOSFETs for Ignition Output, use a 1k pull-up on the Drains to 5 volts, and invert the output from the rusEFI (if this happens again).

I tracked the connectivity to ground to U103, SN74LVC4245APWR A8 (pin 10). The data sheet claims outputs are tri-state. All Bx pins are in tri-state and A1-A7 are in tri-state, but A8 which feeds OUT_IGN1 is in ground state. I should probably order one and see if that restores IGN1_OUT on B15. Is this common? Did I possibly do something to cause it?

Switched from Single Coil ignition output to Individual Coils. I checked for signal at all 6 coil outputs. I have output for coils 2-6, but not 1 (B15). Checked: 30 ohms B15 to power ground, around 1k ohms to Signal Return. All of the other coil outputs show >20k ohms to ground/Signal Return.

I'm beginning to think I may have a defective unit, or maybe I did something to kill it. Sitting at idle, fiddling with the Timing Table it suddenly shut off; like I turned the key off. Frustrated, I swapped coil wires to the factory, and reconnected it. Now it runs on the stock ECU. Checked for spark from the LS coil, nothing. Checked for logic signals at the coil connector, nothing. Disconnected the harness and checked for logic signals at B15, nothing. Yet everything else checks out just fine. I'm using a bright white LED with a 220 ohm current limiting resistor to do these checks so I don't have to tote my scope out to the shop. Any ideas what direction to take? I no longer believe it's a Configuration Setting, but a hardware issue.
